Ayio Kyriaki, Cyprus, 2016

This was commissioned by a couple from Ireland, who spend a great deal of time in Cyprus, and who had recently married there.

They wanted a painting of this church, Ayio Kyriaki Church, St Paul’s Pillars, Pafos, as a Thank You gift for the Irish priest who had married them. This commission came about as a result of my exhibiting as Visiting Artist from Abroad in Cyprus Open Studios 2016.

I was slightly apprehensive about this task as buildings do not particularly interest me as the subject of my art, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well I managed it, and the client was very satisfied.

Acrylic on Canvas, 40 x 30 cm

The painting is in Northern Ireland.

Painting of a church in the Byzantine style, built of honey-coloured stone, featuring domed roofs and a bell towe . In the foreground are two grey pillars, remnants of an older edifice. Also known as St Paul's Pillars in Pafos, Cyprus.
