A Favourite Olive Tree, 2021

The client had recently renovated an old village house and landscaped the garden to include this old olive tree. It was a firm favourite that he wanted to celebrate.

I created this pencil drawing is on a rough-toothed handmade paper from a collage of photographs that he sent me, as he could not get enough distance to make a single, full-length photograph. I delivered the drawing at the original paper size of 76 x 56 cm, and the client reduced the width to fit the location. It has now been framed in a simple black frame and has been hung beside the window that looks out onto the tree itself, beyond, in the garden.

The drawing is in Cyprus.

Detailed pencil drawing of the client's old olive tree on rough-toothed handmade paper, showing clearly the many gnarls and textures of the trunk. Original size 76 x 30 cm.
Photograph of the artist's drawing farmed in simple black frame and in situ on the wall beside an open window with a view to the actual olive tree in the garden beyond.
